The Ammunition

Image
Let's assume that Ralph Thomas's rifle was the firearm used to murder Mary and Greg.   There are some challenges to making a compelling argument that someone other than Ralph Thomas killed Mary Gioia and Greg Kniffin.  It seems that the “Bo Did It” theory might need to demonstrate how following claims are true. Someone stole the rifle from Ralph Thomas's vehicle. It's quite plausible that someone stole the rifle from Thomas's vehicle.  Those in the Village who didn't already know he owned a firearm could have been alerted to this fact when International took a shot at Harry Shorman's Canadian flag.  During the time that Thomas accompanied Mary and the rest to go get beer and burritos, someone could have taken the rifle from the car without waking Tracy Scarborough, who was sleeping in the front seat of the blue Opel station wagon.  A broken window on the driver's side could have given them easy access. Someone only stole some of the ammunition Thomas ke...

The Missing Weapon

Image
Remington 788 On the night of the murders, Ralph Thomas possessed a Remington .44 magnum Model 788 rifle with serial number 041747.  Sometime around 2000 on the evening of August 15, Thomas fired a round from that rifle at a Canadian flag that Harry Shorman flew over his bus.  He kept the rifle in a leather case, sometimes on the rack of his car, sometimes inside the car, along with a Tupperware container of ammunition, Sometime around 0900 to 1000 on the morning of August 16, Thomas told David Bergman ("Mousey") that after returning to Rainbow Village he found his rifle was missing from its case in his car.  Thomas also told Thomas Medlin and Tracy Scarborough about the missing rifle.  He eventually reported it to the police. During the trial, a ballistics expert, Jack F. Richardson, gave evidence for the prosecution.  He testified that, based on his examination of a postmortem photo of the damage done to Mary's face, the exit wound appeared to have been caused...

The Second Season Begins

The second season of  Dead and Gone premiered today. I found this statement to be very interesting:  "...and since that day we encountered James Bowen in small-town Oregon, my co-producer, Mike Rooney, has continued this investigation and what he has been able to uncover is beyond worthy of a second season of this podcast."  What?!  Will this information be shared in a separate podcast? I guess we'll see...
